Tuesday, August 21, PM. The only fix I have found when you get this slow install then the error is use a newer better DVD drive. I spent hours on jumper settings, cable positions and every concievable other thing. I had to concede that that drive was just incompatible with vista's installer. Sunday, August 26, AM. Had similar issues, luckily I had an external usb dvd drive which it loaded from without a problem.
Having just found this forum it looks like there are some pointers as to why internal drives aren't working under vista but do under xp. Note one thing more I found leaving a disk in the internal dvd readers can slow down boot up under vista so ensure you remove all disks. Thursday, August 30, PM.
