Windows slow file browsing

Removing that solved the issue. I had a similar issue. What I did to resolve it, was to stick a USB flash drive at the back of the computer and use it to "speed up the computer" feature of Windows 7. Thanks for all the suggestions, and sorry for the late response. Turns out, the issue was with a program that was installed called TinyTerm. It didn't show up in the program list so it was overlooked.

It is a terminal emulator they use to connect to an old Unix system. It has an NFS addin that apparently causes issues with windows networking. Removed it and reinstalled without the addin and everything began working fine. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Laplink Software, Inc. Neil Laplink. We had a server where all file accesses on it worked very well. Due to the age of the old server, we opted for a new server with Server.

We migrated AD and files while maintaining the same mapping and sharing settings. It turns out that after migration we notice that certain types of files, especially PDFs, which we have large files in large numbers of pages, are extremely slow when accessed over the network, in most cases crashing the station.

The files themselves are not large at most in less than 40mb and were normally opened by any station prior to migration on the server. We have a second identical backup server also with the server. Have you compared the difference between these two windows 10 computers? Like hardware or software?

I traced a network search with Process Monitor and my Win10 laptop is still calling the SearchIndexer. Run procmon and see what's being called on your machine.

I gave up on Windows search long ago. I prefer Agent Ransack.
