I just want to inform everyone here that replied to do an upgrade, and that is not supported, to just realize this is a challenge in the IT world. It is an issue that most likely has a solution. If you don't have the integrity to even try and help resolve the issue, you have no skills or drive to solve network problems on your own. I would never want to have a Network Administrator that instantly says "oh that's outdated, pay for the upgrade, that's the only solution.

That said, I would not want to put my company into the situation where they are running on unsupported and untested configurations in production environments. Is your CIO asking you to put your corporate environment into that state? What happens if something inevitably breaks?

I guess we live in different worlds. I would work as quickly as possible to remove that. I have no problems with 'outdated' solutions; after all some people think desktops are outdated.
